Video Surveillance Basics- The stand alone DVR
The stand alone DVR is a popular choice for those on a budget and for those who do not have room for another PC. Most all stand alone DVR’s are Linux based and are very stable and operate without much intervention from the user.
There is a huge range of DVR’s on the market with many different options. Low cost DVR’s usually do not offer a DVD Backup system, but backup to a flash drive on a USB port. This is fine for small files, but is not the best solution. Also many of these DVR’s do not offer internet viewing, email or text alerts or VGA monitor support. As you move up in cost the above features start becoming available. Costs range from around $300 for a 4 channel (Camera) system up to and above $3,000 for a 16 channel system.
All of our business class DVR’s offer DVD Backup, internet viewing and backup, text and email alerts, VGA support as well as TV outputs, alarm outputs etc. Also all of our business class systems have a 4 YEAR WARRANTY, some of the best in the industry.
